We at the Happy Socks office have just begun a new monthly tradition; the Happy Socks theme day. One day in the end of the month we will host a new theme chosen by one of fellow employees. The February theme was the awarded TV series Mad Men. With heavy wet-look hairstyles, well fitted costumes and contemporary music we spent this last workday of February with much joy. Stay tuned for the coming month’s theme.

Its freezing could outside (and in the mornings inside) the Happy Socks office. Today when we arrived the temperature was below -20 degrees and the snow thicker than ever before. It’s like living in a Christmas card. Very beautiful, but we are longing for the colorful spring. Where are you?

Happy Socks at Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony Tokyo is an 8-level conceptual department store located in Tokyo’s Shibuya district. As Opening Ceremony’s first venture outside of the United States, the concept of the Tokyo store expands on an idea initiated last year in Opening Ceremony LA: the boutique as a "mini mall". Opening Ceremony collaborates with designers to create designated brand shops within the store, identifying the aesthetic of the brand within the greater Opening Ceremony environment. Among the designers and vendors participating are Alexander Wang, Other Music, Nom de Guerre, Boy/Band of Outsiders, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Pendleton, Heath Ceramics and The Row. In this respect, Opening Ceremony Tokyo can be seen as a total overhaul of the classic department store as each floor will feature a different theme with unique merchandising. New York and Americana figure highly on all floors: parks, roof-top decks, classic American homes, Victorian architecture, Santa Fe and Southwestern American craft, Native American designs, and a surreal office setting are among the numerous and varied design details incorporated into the space. Happy Socks at the scene!

The millennium bug was predicted to lead to a global IT-melt-down. Fortunately nothing happened on the New Years Eve 99/00. But now, ten years later, the bug has stroked the Happy Socks Office. Our Internet connection has been down two nights in a row. But we are grateful for the connection time we have =)
